DESCRIPTION
Highpoint Asia, Bangkok, provides independent advice and assistance for companies considering outsourcing some or all of their IT development to Asia and, in particular, to Thailand, one of the fastest growing sources of skilled and reliable IT resources in the world.

Highpoint's Directors are Australian and British citizens with over 20 years experience in IT with the majority of that time spent in Asia - Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, India and Vietnam. During that time we have been on both sides of outsourcing relationships, as both a provider to large corporations in Japan, the USA, Europe and Australia and as a customer, having sourced development projects from India, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Our services start with an assessment of your development requirements for either long or short term projects. We consider the industry sector in which you operate and the type and level of skills you will need. We then prepare a short list of potential suppliers and prepare an assessment of each one. This is based on a review of recent finanacial reports, meetings with management and, if required, interviews with the developers - the people who will actually be doing your work. We will also meet with recent clients to perform reference checks on recent and current work.

After you have selected your outsourcing partner we can provide on-site day-to-day project management to ensure the projects remain on track. This can include weekly (or more frequent) meetings with the development team and regular detailed reporting of progress and issues. If you choose to work directly with your outsourcing partner we will still be available for ad-hoc reporting and assistance with issue resolution should that be required.

The key to our services is that we are completely independent and impartial. We do not accept referral fees, retainers or payments in kind from any of the IT suppliers with which we work. This is so that we can be sure we remain completely unbiased. We work with you, and only you, to protect your best interests.

Although there is a wealth of evidence to suggest that outsourcing of IT functions has the potential to deliver substantial benefits and cost savings it is quite understandable that many companies see only the risks presented by trying to manage such an important relationship over long distance. At Highpoint Asia we understand these issues. We have extensive practical experience in confronting and resolving these problems that is based on successful results over many years and dozens of projects and engagements.

TERMS
Preparation of capability report for up to 5 IT development companies USD 3,000.
Onsite project management of outsourced projects: USD 1,000 - USD 2,000 per month (depending on level of service required.
