I am proficient in Systems Development, Database Design, and Network Design and Administration. My primary programming languages for systems development are: Java, Visual Basic, PHP, and PERL depending on the type of application being developed and the client's choice of hardware and software platform. I have developed my Masters Thesis software using Visual C++ but is not quite confident in my skills there for higher order programming.

For databases, I am proficient with MySQL and MS SQL Server. I have redesigned the database of students of a premier state university, and have successfully migrated live data to the new MySQL database server. I also accomplished the same with a busy superstore and a now with an international research institution using MS SQL Server. Both of these databases have more than a million records each. In a previous 5-month consultancy with an Internet Service provider, I have dealt with PostgreSQL but only as a database user.

My choice of operating system for online servers is RedHat Linux or FreeBSD. I can administer any MS Windows Server if the client choose that over my choice of network operating systems.

Regarding networking and network design, I was responsible for the installation of network PC routers and firewalls at a premier state university. I used Linux, iptables, and shell scripts for the PC routers and firewall. I also configured and maintained that premier university's DNS server (djbdns), email server (qmail, vpopmail, courier-imap, spamassassin, clamav, ezmlm, pop3d), webserver (apache + tomcat).
